FAQ

No. Knux is designed for everyone from the seasoned wrencher to the determined novice. However, you should feel confident in your ability to complete the project you are booking. We aren’t a full-service repair shop—we are a professional-grade facility where you are the lead technician. If you’ve never turned a wrench before, we highly recommend starting with one of our Technical Workshops to build your foundation before booking a solo bay rental.
-
Our Shop Mentors are here to provide "Active Guidance." This means we can offer technical insights, help you navigate the Armory, or provide a second pair of eyes on a tricky bolt. However, to stay compliant with our permits and insurance as a Community Garage, our Mentors cannot perform repair work for you. We provide the standards and the oversight, but the sweat equity and the final result are in your hands. If a project exceeds your current skill level, we may advise you to button up the vehicle and attend a relevant workshop before continuing.
-
We’ve got you covered. As per NYS requirements, we provide onsite recycling for all used engine oil at no charge. All you need to take home with you is your vehicle and the satisfaction that you just completed the job.
-
Just your project and your parts. All bay rentals include access to our Armory which is stocked with all the essential tools - and any specialty tools - that you’ll need.
-
Yes! We encourage camaraderie. You are welcome to bring one "helper" (buddy, spouse, or child) to work on your project with you at no extra cost. They just need to sign a safety waiver upon entry. All guests must be 16 or older.
-
Yes! We actually encourage it to avoid the "wrong part" headache. You can have your orders shipped directly to Knux Garage. We also offer Project Audits and Parts Consultations where we’ll help you double-check your VIN and order list before you arrive.

We’ve all been there, sometimes a 1-hour brake job turns into a 3-hour saga. While we encourage you to book enough time for some cushion, we don’t want you feeling pressured by the clock. If there is no one booked after you, simply keep on truckin’ and we’ll just add the time to your account. If there is someone waiting on that bay, we can move either you or them to one of our stand-by bays.
-
Don't panic. We’ve all been there. Our goal is to get you back on the road, not leave you stranded.
If your vehicle is drivable: We will help you "button it up" for the night and find the next available slot in the schedule to keep your project moving.
If your vehicle is "dead in the bay": Knux Garage maintains two emergency bays specifically for unfinished projects. If your car can't move, we can keep it overnight. Our policy is to reserve an emergency 2-hour block for you the following morning at the standard rate. This ensures you have the dedicated time and tools to finish the job without the pressure of a deadline.
